After a very successful vinyl single released on the UK label Fruits de Mer, Beautify Junkyards is now releasing their debut album which was recorded in the fields with a mobile studio.
Shindig magazine, Classic Rock, BBC6, BBC2 and many other sites and radios across Europe and US are featuring wonderful reviews and playing songs from the album, also the producer Béco Dranoff (Ziriguiboom label, Red Hot compilations) invited the band to participate on a documentary for brazilian TV entitled "Beyond Ipanema" alongside with musicians like David Byrne, Devendra Banhart, M.I.A, Os Mutantes and many others. These are all good reasons to release this full lenght with all the excitement.
This album is entirely dedicated to some of the band´s major musical influences "60s and 70s psych folk, tropicalia and kosmische covers lovingly re-crafted for the XXI century"
For this debut the band also brought in very special guests: Wolfgang Shloegl (i-Wolf, Sofa Surfers), Riz Maslen (Neotropic), Karine Carvalho (3 na Massa) and the american folk singer Erica Buettner.

:: What´s being said about the band
"Beautify Junkyards are much more than heads with great record collections. Their take on Donovan´s "Song For The Naturalist´s Wife" is as playful as it is sweet and pretty. Their version of Kraftwerk´s "Radioactivity" is positively spellbinding. Renditions of Heron´s "Yellow Roses" and Vashti Bunyan "Rose Hip November" are examples of the very best autumnal folk- all yeaming. And when they nail Os Mutantes "Fuga nº 2" making it beautiful and freaky, just like the original, they win me for life."

"intriguing and lovely"

"Lisbon’s Beautify Junkyards literally bloom on their self-titled full-length......By the time they work their ethereal magic though, what comes through is Beautify Junkyards and a consistency of sound and vision that transcends authorship. On all cuts it’s crystal clear that Junkyards approached each song and writer with unshakable affection......Above and beyond the dreamy lure of their shimmering on-the-waking-edge vibe that adds a definition to ‘all natural,’ Beautify Junkyards is the sound of various voices in unison—theirs, the songwriters, the instruments, the understated production—that moves the album into a timelessness that is deeply traditional and forward..."
OCEAN SUNRISE BENDER (USA)
“it’s one of the best albums I’ve heard in a long time. They managed to breathe new live into the songs they’ve chosen whilst at the same time making them their own”
STRANGE BREW (UK)
“All at once breathless, beautiful and bewitching, the junkyard ones peel away at the skin of originals third person rustic eloquence and tease to the fore its core heart arresting romance”
GOD IS IN THE TV (UK)
"We don't often review singles here at the Prog Column, but we simply must bring this to your attention a superb rendition of the Nick Drake song by a new Portuguese combo.

Following on from last year's excellent debut 7" on Fruits de Mer (both sides of which are included here), this is a bold and creative statement from a group with exceptional taste, and an implicit awareness of which songs will best suit their approach.
ACTIVE LISTENER (UK)
“With sounds of freedom, nature and pure music, Portuguese sextet “Beautify Junkyards” announces a good start of their, hopefully, long lasting career. Their self-titled debut is all about making the good music sound even better.”
ITS PSYCHEDELIC BABY (SERBIA)
"its dificult not to smile when listening to those tracks. What i like in these tracks its the well achieved balance between the respect to the original melted with the strong musical personality of the band"

This is a strong contender for my favourite record of 2015. Beautiful and evocative sounds that merge acid folk with hauntological sounds to amazing effect. You need to hear this one. A dazzling piece of work shaun rogan

This is very close to what I heard/felt everytime we visited the grandparents in Runcorn.
Ominous dread. Bleak dystopia. Concrete and terraced houses. Plus the air smells! MonkeyMajiks
